Café R & B
Formed in 1995, Café R&B is the creation of Roach & Byl Carruthers, who first met in 1980 at L.A’s seminal club Madame Wong’s. Soon after, the were not only filling Blues clubs, but headlining L.A.’s rock clubs. When the House of Blues opened it’s doors in Los Angeles, the band played over a dozen shows there in 12 months, alongside everyone from Etta James to Little Feat. Now it’s 2010 and Café R&B is roaring back at full speed. Since day one, critics have been searching for adjectives to describe what happens when Roach and the band take the stage. Whether it’s L.A., London, Barcelona, Chicago or San Francisco – the reaction is always the same; an unforgettable experience that reaches everyone in the house. http://www.caferandb.com

United by Music featuring Candye Kane & Friends, with special guest appearance by Janiva Magness
Superhero is the name of Candyes' original song and the title of her latest CD for Los Angeles based label, Delta Groove records. It is also an apt description of the jump blues singer and songwriter from East Los Angeles who has earned this moniker the hard way. Nominated for three 2010 National Blues Foundation Awards and beating down pancreatic cancer in the last two years, Kane is one tough cookie. A colorful mixture of the traditional and the eclectic, Candye Kane honors the bold blues women of the past with both feet firmly planted in the present. http://www.candyekane.com
Award-winning vocalist Janiva Magness is among the premier blues and R&B singers in the world today. Her voice possesses an earthy, raw honesty and beauty born from her life experience. A charismatic performer known for her electrifying live shows, Magness is a gutsy and dynamic musical powerhouse. USA Today declared, “Magness is a blues star,” and The Philadelphia Inquirer said, “Magness sings superb, potent soul-blues with a scorching intensity.” http://www.JanivaMagness.com
United by Music is a international organization which offers music opportunities to adults with disabilities.

Dave Crimmen
"In Redwood City when we shout-out "Keepin' the Blues Alive!" we mean it. Our big tent approach includes Rockabilly Hall of Famer Dave Crimmen. Dave comes at the blues with a rollicking, rootsy, rock & roll vibe. He draws a direct line thru boogie and twang right to the heart of the hard boppin' 1950's. He's on the bluesy side of Nashville, Macon, Lubbock and Memphis... that totally American sweet spot between blues, country and rock & roll. Dave works hard, writes great songs, gigs a lot and will raise the roof with tunes full of bars, cars, guitars & classic hooks that keep you hummin'. But the blues is deep in the soul of his music. Best of all he'll make you wanna dance! Like bluesman Willie Dixon said, "Blues is the Root, everything else is the fruit." ~ J.B. Davis

Amy Lou’s Blues
Amy Lou's Blues is a highly entertaining band that plays good time, up on your feet jumpin' blues! Amy Lou and her rockin' blues band, take you back to the good ol' days of juke joints and hops backed with swingin' blues, with some gospel thrown in and just enough funk to keep things twistin'. There's a boogie woogie honky-tonk flavor to the band that will get you toe tappin', hand clappin' and up on your feet! Sure to please any crowd, the music is pure fun mixed with soulful blues! These hep cats rock till they drop. http://www.amylousblues.com

Dave Hydie Trio
Dave Hydie is a mulit-talented blues musician, performer, songwriter and band leader. One of his specialities is a finger-picking-bottleneck slide sound, much influenced by Elmore James, Tampa Red, Robert Nighthawk and John Lee Hooker, that is, at the same time, most unique. He is also a respected diatonic and chromatic harmonica player, often accompanying his own guitar using a harmonica rack. Dave picked up a few tricks on harmonica from Billy Branch, while playing with him on Chicago’s streets before moving on to Oakland where he learned Texas-style blues from Sonny Rhodes. Dave has shared a stage with Luther Tucker, Frankie Lee, Kenny “Blue” Ray and many others. Today, Dave performs primarily with the “Dave Hydie Trio” and has released a new CD, South Bay Shaker.

BrotherCat
Four longtime San Francisco musicians thinkin’ Harlem in the 40s, the West Coast in the 50s, New Orleans, Memphis, & Detroit in the 60s. BROTHERCAT blends roots in Soul Blues, Jazzy West Coast Swing & Rockin' Twang into a stew full of energy and with a deep danceable groove. Like T-Bone Burnett, Plant & Krauss, John Hiatt or The Band, they define this thing called Americana by sourcing blues, jazz, rock, soul, country, gospel & swing to honor, show off and save music that needs to be heard again. Whiplash guitar, jazzy soulful piano and a rhythm section with the thump to make you jump, BROTHERCAT is the real deal. http://www.brothercatmusic.com & http://www.myspace.com/brothercat

Frankie Lee
Frankie Lee, one of the leading singers of our time, belongs with the ranks of O.V. Wright, Otis Redding, Little Johnny Taylor, and Bobby Bland. His Blind Pig release, Going Back Home, finally brought Frankie the recognition he deserves and demonstrates that Frankie's equally adept at smooth uptown soul material as well as tough back-in-the-alley blues. He's backed by a superb musical cast, including old friends Bobby Murray of the Etta James Band and Jim Pugh of the Robert Cray Band. Frankie, whom the New York Daily News called "one of the most energetic blues voices of any time or place," stated, "It's one of the best things I've ever done." http://www.bluesexpress.com/records/br_leebio.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7BAM8rJnAw

Freddie Hughes and Kickin' the Mule
The band Kickin’ the Mule got its start working the blues clubs on the Bay Area blues scene. It soon graduated to performing with luminaries such as Birdlegg, Craig Horton, and Tia Carroll, and for the past six years, Freddie Hughes. Since 2001 the band has played more than one hundred shows a year, all the while developing a loyal following. Regular club work from Napa to Half Moon Bay led to the band being featured at San Francisco's California Blues Festival, the Oakland Art and Soul Festival, the Napa Mustard Festival, and the Russell City Blues Festival. http://www.myspace.com/kickinthemule

Johnny Talbot
Johnny Talbot is a music pioneer, innovator and one of today's most influential musicians. He is a world-renowned Texas guitarist, composer, song stylist and legendary bandleader. Johnny played and studied blues, funk, R&B and jazz to develop his own style. He originated the, "Oakland Funk" sound. After being music director for Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye, Johnny organized his own band, "De Thangs."
