Festival Tips:
To maximize your enjoyment, here are some helpful tips in planning your trip to the Redwood City PAL Blues Festival.
- Dress comfortably, put on some sunscreen, perhaps wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun
- Wear shoes you feel comfortable strolling and dancing in
- Consider backpacking children. Strollers take up a lot of room and are difficult to navigate through crowds.
- Bring along cash for food and beverages. PAL merchandise will also be on sale, as well as performers CD’s and merchandise.
- Be careful with your consumption of alcohol.
- Drink plenty of water, the weather will be warm.
- Please bring your "low profile" or "sports" chairs if you would like to be seated during the event. There will be limited seating.
- Consider using public transportation. For Caltrain/SamTrans information ,call 800-660-4287 or go to www.caltrain.com or www.samtrans.com.
Transportation
Getting to Downtown Redwood City is a snap! We have easy freeway access, and also are well connected to regional transit systems. We are located in San Mateo County on the center of the San Francisco Peninsula. Courthouse Square in Downtown Redwood City is easily accessible by car or by train. There will be free parking in the garage at 750 Marshall St. in Redwood City. The train station is also just 3 blocks away.
By Car
Highway 101 - If you are coming from north of Redwood City, take the Whipple Avenue exit off of the 101. The off-ramp will turn into Veterans Boulevard. At the light, don’t turn right on Whipple, but proceed straight for another quarter of a mile or so. Turn right on Jefferson Avenue and you are there! From south of Redwood City, take the Woodside Road exit. Take Woodside road south for about a half of a mile, and then turn right on Middlefield Road. After another half-mile or so you have arrived!
Interstate 280 - From north or south of Redwood City, take the Woodside Road exit. Head north on Woodside for about 3 miles, and turn left on Middlefield Road.
By Train
Caltrain - The Redwood City Caltrain stop is right in the heart of Downtown.
BART - Bay Area Rapid Transit doesn’t extend down to Redwood City yet, but the new SFO extension features a transfer point in Millbrae to the Caltrain, which will bring you right into Downtown.
By Bus
SamTrans has multiple routes which provide access to Downtown Redwood City.

New this year, the Blues Festival is providing extra handicap parking spaces near the stage. The spaces will be available behind the San Mateo History Museum. Entrance off Marshall Street.
